"NO one was seriously injured" in a collision on the A303 between Buckland St Mary and Horton on Thursday, police have said.
Five cars collided on the road on August 1, causing the road to close both ways for around two-and-a-half hours.
The cars involved in the crash were badly damaged, and the road was closed while recovery work took place. The road reopened at around 3.30pm.
The crash happened at around 1pm, and caused congestion on the road while it was closed.
The A303 was also closed earlier in the day at Southfields roundabout following reports 'for the concern of the welfare of a person'.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "At around 12.50pm today (Thursday, August 1) we received a report of a collision involving five vehicles on the A303 near Buckland St Mary.
"Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. However the road was closed in both directions as a number of the vehicles were damaged in the incident and needed to be recovered.
"The road was reopened at approximately 3.20pm."
