A SET of traffic lights in Taunton town centre has been shut down after a power supply problem.
Traffic lights for cars and pedestrians on North Street, near Castle Bow, "are only working intermittently".
These photos, taken early this afternoon, show the broken traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing near the Taunton Market House roundabout.
Vehicles have been seen stopping to let pedestrians cross the road, despite the lights being out of action.
A spokesperson for Somerset Council said: "Due to a power supply problem the lights are only working intermittently.
"For the safety of the public, as the signals will cause confusion for both drivers and pedestrians, our team has taken the decision to shut the unit down and place advisory signage on the roadside until the issue can be fixed."
Somerset Council looks after 200 sets of traffic lights.
Problems can be reported on the council’s website.
