A SOMERSET-based gin maker based on the Quantock Hills has won a Great Taste Award for the second year in a row.

Dryad Gin, based at 2 Globe Cottages, Merridge, Bridgwater, took home a Great Taste Award from The Guild of Fine Food once again.

Becky Wright, distiller, said: “We are beyond thrilled to announce that Dryad Gin London Dry Gin has been awarded the prestigious Great Taste ‘simply delicious’ award.

“Great Taste is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme.

“13,672 products were put through the competition’s rigorous blind judging process.

Competing against nearly 13,700 entries, Dryad gin along with 3,938 products were awarded a Great Taste 1-star – ‘food and drink that delivers fantastic flavour.”

Here are some comments from the judges: “The judges were impressed with the pleasing, balanced nose of floral-earthy botanicals in this gin; evident orange peel provides a welcome roundness.”

“Lovely aromatic notes with the juniper present. The judges felt that the alcohol was balanced. if a little hot. We really enjoyed the cardamom, which was balanced and beautifully fragrant.”
