Hollywood Bowl is launching a national competition for children to design a sports-themed bowling pin.

The bowling chain, whose Taunton centre is on Heron Gate and Yeovil centre on Old Station Way, invites children aged 6 to 12 to become the 'Champ-Pin' by designing the pin in honour of Great Britain's Olympic athletes.

On August 19, the winner's design will be made into a life-size bowling pin and displayed on the winner's podium at their local centre.

The victor will also win an annual family bowling pass, while two runners up will score a free family bowling game pass.

To participate, children aged between 6 and 12 should design the pins and ask a parent or guardian to submit the design to competitions@hollywoodbowl.co.uk.

Alternatively, parents or guardians can tag @hollywoodbowluk and use the hashtag #HWBsummerofsport on Instagram or Facebook, including an image of the pin design.

Dave Williams, operations director at Hollywood Bowl Group, said: "This is an opportunity to get creative and let imaginations run wild.

"We can’t wait to see all the pin-tastic designs!"

Hollywood Bowl centres are offering 50% off bowling games when booked before 11am during the summer holidays.

The family feast deal is also running throughout the holidays, with two adult meals, two kids’ meals, a side of onion rings, and four drinks from £26.
