A WELLINGTON centenarian Madge Covey was presented with Centenarian Membership at the Wellington Conservative Club.
The Royal British Legion Announced in early 2022 that they were to introduce free membership for members who are 100 or over. This scheme has now been implemented with Madge getting her free membership recently.
County president of Somerset Royal British Legion Commodore Bob Mansergh presented Madge with her certificate for her Membership on Wednesday, August 7.
Also present was the mayor of Wellington Cllr Janet Lloyd whose husband Ian is an artist who recently won a competition by Bravo 22 to design a piece of poppy artwork to be sold during this year's poppy appeal.
Cllr Llyod presented Madge with one of the mugs with this artwork on it, this was very suiting considering Madge has been selling poppies since the age of 11 and still is a regular seller during Wellington's Poppy Appeal.
