Post-punk pioneers The Tiger Lillies will come to Taunton as part of The Nihilism Tour this summer.

The Grammy-nominated band will perform at The Brewhouse Theatre on September 7, 2024.

Their new show, 'Come On Down (The Nihilism Tour)', is based on the theme of the meaninglessness and absurdity of existence, a constant in their work.

The Tiger Lillies are a leading avant-garde band, having won two Olivier Awards.

Their performances are dark, peculiar, and diverse, interspersed with moments of dark humour and immense beauty.

The trio's unique, Brechtian street opera takes them around the globe, performing concerts and theatre shows like The Tiger Lillies Christmas Carol, The Ancient Mariner, and the West End hit Shockheaded Peter.

Their music fuses pre-war Berlin cabaret, anarchic opera, and gypsy music, resonating with the influences of Bertolt Brecht and Jacques Brel.

They were among the first bands to tour Ukraine after the war began, releasing an album to support the country's people.

The Scotsman praised The Tiger Lillies, saying: "It is hard to do justice to the dark, poetic brilliance of The Tiger Lillies, just seek out a ticket for this glorious show."

The Guardian added: "Martyn Jacques is a charismatic focus.

"Trudging between his piano and accordion like a man weighed down by supernatural dread – yet his voice is a molten cascade.

"The execution is impeccable throughout, phenomenal."
