A HUSBAND-and-wife team with a “shared dream of moving to Somerset” are bringing “the world’s flavours” to the county through their slow-roasted pulled pork.
The Globetrotter Pork Company offer dishes inspired by global cuisines — hence the name ‘Globetrotter’.
Henry, who has “over 20 years of experience” as a chef, originally launched the business with his wife in Kent during lockdown.
He said: “We have a selection of rolls and wraps with sides of chips, or a combination of the two for our signature loaded fries.
“We pride ourselves on an ever-evolving menu that showcases international flavours with a local twist.
“Until the end of August, we have the following flavour options:
"British Pulled Pork: Cider and mustard-infused pork in a roll with homemade apple slaw and stuffing, or on loaded fries with smoked cheddar, crumbled stuffing, and gravy.
“Mexican Pulled Pork: Chilli and orange-infused pork served in a wrap with sour cream, salad, black beans and jalapeños, or on loaded fries with sour cream, smoked cheddar, and jalapeños.
“Indian Pulled Pork: Balti-spiced pork in a cumin and onion roll with salad and mint raita, or on loaded fries with onions and mint raita.
“We also offer a vegetarian/vegan option and pretty much everything on our menu can be made gluten free.
“We’re not fans of charging people more for having allergies/intolerances so these GF substitutes come at no extra cost to our customers.
“The secret to our mouth-watering pulled pork lies in the preparation. We start with a special dry rub, marinate the pork for 10 hours, then slow-cook it for another 10 hours before hand-pulling it to perfection.
The result is tender, juicy pork that melts in your mouth.
“As a chef with over 20 years of experience in French, Moroccan, Fusion, and Asian cuisines, I’ve always been inspired by the rich diversity of global flavours.
“My wife and I launched Globetrotter Pork Company in Kent during lockdown, and the response was incredible.
“With a shared dream of moving to Somerset, we relaunched our business in this beautiful county, bringing our love for global cuisine and local ingredients with us.
“Our motto, ‘Globally inspired, locally sourced,’ reflects our commitment to using the finest local produce.
“We source our pork shoulder from Pynes of Bridgwater, our rolls from Glenmore Bakery in Williton, cider from Sheppy’s, and smoked cheddar from Ilminster.
“It’s our way of ensuring that every dish not only tastes great but also supports the local community.
“Currently, our operation is a two-person team—myself as the chef and my wife, a project manager by trade, who ensures everything runs smoothly.
“We’re focused on serving up our delicious pulled pork at local events, markets, festivals, and shows, as well as catering for private parties and weddings.
“With our diary filling up fast, we’re excited about what the future holds and are already taking bookings for the rest of 2024 and 2025.
“Since relaunching, we’ve had the pleasure of trading at venues like Quantock Brewery, Somerset Boat Centre, and Taunton Independent Market.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received and are eager to continue growing our business in Somerset.
“We have big plans for Globetrotter Pork Company, and we’re just getting started.
“Watch this space or follow us on socials for more exciting developments as we continue to bring global flavours to the people of Somerset.”
