An employee at Leonardo in Yeovil has kicked off the Premier League season by raising more than £1,111.11 for Alzheimer's Society.
Chris Flatt, a Liverpool supporter and a keen collector of football pin badges, organised a raffle of his prized possessions to raise funds.
His collection includes pins from all the main Premier League teams, including Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as Championship and lower league teams.
Most of the pins were donated by colleagues at Leonardo in Yeovil, with some coming from regions across the UK.
He chose the target of £1,111.11 to honour Remembrance Day, as memory loss is a focus of Alzheimer's Society's work.
His mother lived with dementia before passing at 94, making the charity close to his heart.
Mr Flatt said: "All the people at Leonardo came together to help me reach this fantastic figure for my last fundraiser.
"Their donations have been brilliant.
"A big thank you to Rupert Morley for his wonderful work mounting the pin badges and to Bob Simpson, retired Leonardo electrician, for liaising with Alzheimer’s Society’s regional fundraiser for Somerset, Sian Johnson, to organise the card reader which attracted more donations and his brilliant suggestion of that final figure."
