The Wivey Show took place for the 108th and attracted a significant turnout ready to enjoy the area's talent.

Held last Saturday at Wiveliscombe Rec, the event saw crowds queueing down the road for a day filled with music, floral displays, vegetable exhibits and arts and crafts.

Chairman, Kirsty Boutflower said: "We are thrilled that it’s starting to evolve into the show we had originally envisaged and our amazing local community are supporting it by attending in very large numbers.

"Entries were up across the board, especially in those sections that had struggled in recent years which was really pleasing to see.

"We have so much incredible talent in the area and it’s lovely to see so much of it on display.

"Once again we are indebted to Jon and Millie from the Bear Pub Group for their sponsorship in providing the two large marquees and without whom, the Show just wouldn’t happen on this scale."

The increased entries created a challenging task for judges and stewards.

The competition saw excellent displays, particularly in the children’s and handicraft sections, which spectators greatly admired.

The art section's overall Best in Show went to John Holland for his breathtaking painting of a turnip.

Trade stands reported successful trade, with various attractions like the bouncy castle and welly wanging drawing long queues.

Wiveliscombe Town Band, Wiveliscombe Wind Band, High Park's youth group and a children's entertainer, JS Magic & Show, provided music throughout the day.

Mr Mommet's Punch & Judy show and Wivey Kitchen's return with cookery demonstrations and a flower arranging demo by Jan’s Blue Shed Flowers attracted large crowds.

Ms Boutflower said: "We are once again overwhelmed by how well it has gone this year and I would like to thank absolutely everyone involved including sponsors, judges, helpers and an incredible team behind the scenes.

"We are committed to making this show a memorable occasion every year and hope to continue to build for the future."

Many participants were recognised for their efforts.

Michael Broom was particularly applauded, earning the most points in Section A and scoring high in cut flowers, pot plants, dahlia, fruit and collection exhibits.

Ms Boutflower also stood out with the Best Vegetable exhibit, as well as Jane Nicholls with the Most points and Best Exhibit in Section B.

Numerous other individuals from different sections were celebrated for their contributions and the event ended on a joyous note, indicating promising prospects for next year.
