MILLFIELD students are celebrating fantastic GSCE and BTEC results today which are significantly higher than 2023 and 2019, before the pandemic.

Year 11 consisted of 226 students with 28% achieving 9-8 grades, 47% achieving 9-7 grades and 95% achieving 9-4.

The school's top 100 students, comparable to most school’s Year 11 cohort size, achieved 53% 9-8 grades, 80% 9-7 grades and 95% 9-6 grades.

Daniel Blight is this year’s top achiever receiving an exceptional nine 9s and an A in Additional Maths.

He is a day student from Somerset, who joined Millfield Prep in Year 7.

Daniel is a swimmer and top musician. He was finalist for the Millfield Musician of the Year in the Advanced Instrumental Percussion category and U19 finalist in the Po Corda National Chamber festival Striking Sounds.

Scarlett Brock achieved an incredible nine 9s. A boarder from Devon, she joined Millfield Prep in Year 7 and has made the most of every opportunity available to her at Millfield, whether that be Duke of Edinburgh, Camerata, music lessons, and on the sports field where she plays hockey at the Talent Academy.

Evelyn Wheeler, a boarder from South Korea, joined Millfield in Year 10. She achieved eight 9s, one 8 and a merit in BTEC Music.

She has enjoyed Rugby and Football representing the Girls First XI for both sports and competed in the renowned Rosslyn 7’s tournament, scoring a magnificent try. Evelyn trains with the England U18 Touch Rugby squad.

Angie Bazzoni achieved eight 9s and one 8. A boarder who joined Millfield from Hong Kong in Year 10, Angie is both a footballer and rugby player, playing both sports at a high level. In her spare time, she also learnt to play the electric guitar.

Maia Delin achieved eight 9s and one 7. The day student from Bath, who joined Millfield Prep in Year 7, and has worked "incredibly hard to maintain her exceptional academics while on the Olympic Talent Performance programme for sailing", the school said. This often involved her being away from school for periods of time and catching up with her work online.

Maisie Searle, a day student from Somerset, joined Millfield in Year 3. She achieved seven 9s, two 8s, and a merit in BTEC Music and an A in Additional Maths. Maisie is a keen musician and has performed in many of the school orchestras and ensembles, including the illustrious Bond Night.

She plays in Somerset Youth Orchestra. She also fences and is a valued coach, referee and team member at many tournaments. In the South West Senior Sabre Championships, Maisie was second in the Girls’ event. In the South West Regional Sabre Championships, Maisie was regional Champion.

Alex Harrop achieved seven 9s, two 8s and an A in Additional Maths. The day student from Woodbridge, joined Millfield in Year 10 and has "made the most" of the varied sporting offering on offer, taking part in Swimming, Karate and Sailing.

Goksu Sismin is a Turkish day student, living in Somerset. She achieved seven 9s, one 8 and one 6. She competed in the South West Regional Epee Fencing Championships U16 Girl’s event, placing sixth and qualifying for the National Championships. Goksu is also an artist and her work was recently exhibited in the annual Student Exhibition in the Atkinson Gallery.

Beau Gurner, a boarder from Jersey, joined Millfield in Year 9. Today Beau received five 9s, four 8s and an A in Additional Maths. Alongside his academics, Beau balances a very busy cricket schedule and loves all outdoor pursuits.

Gemma Tolputt achieved five 9s, two 8s and two 7s. The day student from Street, joined Millfield in Year 9, and has represented Millfield in various Cross Country events across the UK, and has also been selected to run for Somerset Schools at the National Cross Country Championships.

Eva Lawson, a boarder from Somerset, joined Millfield Prep in Year 7. Eva achieved four 9s, four 8s and one 7. As well as having a passion for swimming and netball, she "took pride in her academic work", Millfield said. Eva is a "dedicated member" of the U16A netball team and has also competed at the highest level of domestic swimming.

Sophie Dellis achieved five 9s, two 8s and two 7s. A boarder from London, she joined Millfield in Year 10, and has represented the school in tennis, football and skiing. She also studies jazz and contemporary dance and is learning to play the saxophone.

Sebastian Ridley Whittle, a boarder from London, joined Millfield in Year 9. He achieved six 9s, one 8, two 7s and an A in Additional Maths. Sebastian enjoys cricket and is looking to study Maths, Physics and Computer Science at A Level.

Freddie Beasley, a boarder from Somerset, joined Millfield Prep in Year 7, and achieved five 9s, three 8s, one 7 and an A in Additional Maths. A dedicated rugby player, Freddie has been a key member of the school’s rugby teams and is currently at the pre-season training camp in Tignes, France. He has represented Bath Rugby’s U17 Academy team throughout the 2023-2024 season.

Lucy Champion achieved six 9s, two 8s, one 7 and a B in Additional Maths. The day student from Street, joined Millfield Prep in Year 2 and is a keen golfer and cricketer. She was awarded ‘shot of the day’ whilst competing in the Cricket National U18 Finals Day last year.

Helena Carter, a day student from Somerset, joined Millfield Prep in Year 7. She achieved seven 9s, one 8, one 6 and an B in Additional Maths. As well as being a top academic Helena is a keen sportswoman and excellent cricketer. She toured in Sri Lanka earlier this academic year as part of the Somerset pathway and won the bowling award for U18 girls. 

Emilia Butt joined Millfield in Prep in Year 4 as a day student. Emilia achieved three 9s, five 8s and one 7. She is a keen actress and participates in numerous drama performances. 

Melinda Tang, a boarder from Hertfordshire, joined Millfield in Year 9. Melinda achieved four 9s, three 8s and two 7s. She is a music scholar and has committed to a wide range of predominantly classical musical activities. She performs to a high standard on the piano and cello, and she was piano finalist in Millfield Musician of the Year. She has been a "dedicated scholar and excellent role model", the school said.

Maria Zimina, a boarder from Moscow, joined Millfield Prep in Year 7. She achieved five 9s, two 8s, one 7 and one 6. Maria has taken part in a range of sports at Millfield including Tennis, Hockey and Athletics.

Ed Rose, from Devon, is a boarder who joined Millfield Prep in Year 5. Ed achieved four 9s, four 8s and one 6. During his time at Millfield, Ed has "made the most out of the opportunities at school in music and in sports", playing rugby and hockey to a high standard.

Will Morgan-Hughes, from Glastonbury, joined Millfield in Pre School. Will achieved six 9s, two 8s and one 4. Will has become an "exceptional hockey player and managed to balance his academics and hockey commitments", the school said.

Will Hutchison, a boarder from Somerset, joined Millfield in Year 9. Will achieved four 9s, three 8s and two 7s. As well as being a "strong academic" he is also very musical and has performed in a number of ensembles. He has a passion for nature and is interested in conservation.
