YEOVIL'S Dunelm will be closed "until further notice" after a blaze ripped through the home furnishing store.
The store off Ivel Square in the Quedam Shopping Centre caught fire on Sunday, August 25, with emergency services called to the blaze just after 5pm.
No injuries were reported and workers were all able to "safely" escape from the building, the Dunelm Yeovil Community Support Facebook group and several workers confirmed.
Eight fire stations attended the incident; Taunton, Street, Yeovil, Castle Cary, Crewkerne, Martock, Somerton, and Wincanton.
A total of six pumping appliances and an Aerial ladder platform were mobilised, a spokesperson for Martock Fire Station said. Crews continued to work well into the night to ensure the fire was controlled.
Dunelm Yeovil Community Support Facebook group said in a post: "Hello everyone!
"We wanted to let you all know that the colleagues in the store got out safely. It’s devastating to see this happen to the store.
"We have no updates currently to what will happen next but will let you all know when we do."
A spokesperson for Martock Fire Station said on Sunday: "A busy evening for our crew today mobilised to the below incident as part of the initial attendance shortly after 5pm.
"Fire control received multiple calls to a retail fire in Yeovil. 3 pumping appliances from Yeovil, Sherborne and Martock and an Aerial ladder platform from Taunton were alerted.
"Crews then made up for a further 3 pumping appliances before then making pumps 8 for personnel. Crews from Crewkerne, Wincanton and Castle Cary also attended.
"On arrival crews confirmed the building was well alight.
"Crews used the Aerial ladder platform, 2 Breathing Apparatus, one 13.5 meter ladder, two 51mm jets and one hose reel.
"There were no reported injuries at this incident and although the incident is still ongoing crews from Martock were relieved from the incident around 22.00."
On Sunday evening, Quedam Shopping Centre issued an update, writing: "Unfortunately earlier this evening there was an incident involving our Dunelm store. A fire had broken out and caused serious damage to the store.
"Rest assured emergency services have been on site and brought the fire under control. Nobody has been harmed and everyone involved is safe and well."
"This will mean our Dunelm store will be closed until further notice. The Centre is planned to be open as usual tomorrow [Monday, August 26]."
It added that Quedam Car Park's middle and top level was "open as usual", however, the lifts are "currently not in use".
