AN AMBULANCE crashed head-on with a car at a Glastonbury roundabout while transporting a patient to hospital. 

A silver Nissan Micra collided head-on with the emergency vehicle on the A39 Wirral Park roundabout at 8.45pm on Wednesday August 28.

The ambulance was carrying a patient, without emergency lights or sirens activated, when the crash took place. The patient continued to hospital in another ambulance.

The ambulance crew and the driver and passenger of the Nissan Micra were taken to hospital, and all have since been discharged.

Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement: "Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam or other footage after a collision at the A39 Wirral Park roundabout in Glastonbury.

"It happened at about 8.45pm on Wednesday 28 August when a silver Nissan Micra was involved in a head-on collision with an ambulance.

"The ambulance crew were transporting a patient to hospital and did not have emergency lights or sirens activated. Emergency services attended.

"The patient continued to hospital in another ambulance.

"The driver and passenger of the Nissan Micra and the crew of the ambulance went to hospital and have since been discharged.

"Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened, and especially who saw a third vehicle which did not stop at the scene.

"This vehicle was travelling in the same direction as the Micra, towards Glastonbury, while the ambulance was heading towards Street.
