The community came together for St Margaret's Hospice Care's Yeovil Sunflower Stroll and raised an outstanding £4,500.
The day of remembering loved ones and fundraising took place on September 1st, with over 100 participants gathering at the scenic Aldon Fields for a 4km walk.
Despite the British summer downpours, attendees found solace in the hospice gardens, afternoon cream teas, glasses of fizz, and a selection of Mademoiselle Desserts, all uplifted by the tunes of the Stanchester Quire.
With donations still pouring in, the raised funds will enable St Margaret's Sunflower Day Hospice Centre to extend its exceptional care to life-limited patients throughout the county.
Six individuals could receive six weeks of vital support beyond their regular health and social services, thanks to the successful event.
Event manager Merle Harrison-Croft lauded the turnout, saying: "We are grateful for the support we’ve received at this year's Yeovil Sunflower Stroll.
"It’s incredibly heart-warming to see so many people coming together for a great cause.
"The funds raised will make a meaningful impact on the lives of those with progressive, life limiting illnesses.
"The Sunflower Day centre provides a holistic service, helping meet the physical, emotional and social needs and for many this service is a lifeline, so being able to raise funds that directly support this area of the hospice is incredibly important."
There is still a chance to get involved with another Sunflower Stroll in Taunton on September 15.
Tickets, starting at just £5, are available on the St Margaret's Hospice website.
