A 'CARBAGE Run' drove into Yeovil Showground this weekend, with 500+ vehicles all older than 15-years-old.

The event, run by organisers in The Netherlands, saw a convoy of vehicles arrive on Saturday, August 31, all of them worth no more than £500 and many having travelled from overseas.

Carbage Run is described by the organisers as "a five-day road trip through Europe in an old piece of junk". This particular edition saw drivers take a 2,000km route through the south of England and Wales.

The Carbage Run website states: "Carbage Run is not about speed and/or time but about creativity, craziness, adventure and having fun!"

It adds: "Every day you will receive assignments with which you can score points and the team with the most points at the end of the week wins."

Whilst in Yeovil the teams had to find the tallest 'Ben' and bring him to the Showground, which saw some teams trying to find a person named Ben outside of Yeovil's Lidl.

South Somerset Neighbourhood Policing said in a post: "Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters - no, seriously, we could actually do with Slimer joining our landsharks!

"This evening PCSOs John and Amy have attended Yeovil Showground to engage with the 'Carbage Run' who are expecting 500+ vehicles to arrive tonight.

"They have a number of rules to follow such as; all vehicles must be 20+ years old and worth £500 and every day they are set a new challenge before they set off to their new destination.

"Today's challenge involved finding the tallest 'Ben' in Yeovil and returning to the Showground!

"We wish them a safe journey to their next destination and for the remainder of the hunt!"
