TAUNTON runner Hannah Taunton has placed 5th in the Paralympics Women's 1500m— achieving a season-best.
Hannah, 33, competed in the Women's T20 1500m final on Friday morning, September 6, at Paris' Stade de France, running the race in 4:38.98.
Gold went to Poland's Barbara Bieganowska-zajac, with a time of 4:26.06 and a season-best.
Silver went to Ukraine's Liudmyla Danylina with a personal best time of 4:28.40, and Bronze to Brazil's Antonia Keyla da Silva Barros with an area record of 4:29.40.
In fourth place was Australia's Annabelle Colman, with an area record of 4:31.54.
Hannah, who won bronze in the T20 1500m at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, has a condition that affects her speech and language. She regularly competes against athletes who do not have an intellectual impairment.
She attended Taunton School where she took up running. Aged 12, her PE teacher suggested that she join the Taunton Athletics Club.
Hannah broke the T20 5000m world record at the British Championships 2020, held at the Manchester Regional Arena, and made her Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020 where she won bronze in a personal best of 4:35:34.
