A rare peal of bells rang from St John's Church for nearly three hours, marking two significant occasions.
The bells rang out in Glastonbury High Street on August 11 in memory of Brian V Mountjoy, former tower captain from 2011 to 2023.
The peal also celebrated the 25th ordination anniversary of Rev’d. Preb. David MacGeoch.
Eight invited ringers, all of whom had rung with Mr Mountjoy, performed the peal, which was led by Sam Shead, tower captain of Wells Cathedral, whose first peal was conducted by Mr Mountjoy.
This was a rare event, with the last peal in Glastonbury rung on January 1, 2013, by Mr Mountjoy to celebrate his 350th peal as a Bath and Wells Association conductor.
