FIREFIGHTERS have rescued a casualty who became trapped inside their vehicle after a collision in Ford Street, a hamlet near Wellington.
Paramedics and fire crews from Taunton and Wellington were called to the scene of the collision by the police at 12.29pm on Friday, September 6.
The crews cut the door off the vehicle to rescue the casualty, who was left in the care of the ambulance service.
A Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Fire control received an emergency call from the police reporting a two-vehicle road traffic collision in the Ford Street area of Wellington and asking for Fire and Rescue assistance due to one person still within the vehicle.
“Both crews from Wellington and the on-duty crew from Taunton was immediately mobilised.
“Crews successfully rescued the person within the vehicle by using cutting gear to take the door off the vehicle to create space and also using vehicle stabilisation equipment and also got to work making the vehicle safe.
“Paramedics who were on scene then provided first aid to the casualty.”
