THE search for the next Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger for the new HBO original series has begun - and it could be you.

HBO announced in 2023 it would be creating a new "decade-long" Harry Potter television series which would be a “faithful adaptation” of the world famous books written by JK Rowling, who will serve as executive producer.

It will feature a brand new cast while staying “authentic to the original books”, to bring the wizarding adventures to new audiences.

HBO begins search for new Harry Potter stars

It has been over a year since the announcement of the new Harry Potter TV series was made.

But HBO has now begun the search for three children, from the UK and/or Ireland, to play the roles of the series' main characters - Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

A post on the Harry Potter Facebook page, revealed HBO has announced an "open casting call" for residents of the UK and Ireland to fill the main roles for the upcoming series.

The casting call reads: "Open casting call for children to play the roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger in the upcoming HBO Original series adaptation of 'Harry Potter'.

"We are currently only able to consider children who are aged 9-11 in April 2025, and a resident of the UK or Ireland."

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger were previously played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, respectively, in the films.
