PEOPLE in Somerset have been speculating after a video has surfaced of a bin making a “mysterious beeping” noise.
Situated in Bishops Hull, a social media post has started a conversation online, with over 77 comments all wondering what the beeping noise is coming from the bin.
The social media post, posted via Facebook, says: “For the last three days this bin has been giving off three beeps then a pause.
“I can’t see what it is but suspect a lost device. It is in Kinglake Park, Bishops Hull.”
One user suggested the noise is "a sensor to monitor when the bin is full", with another person joking saying: “That’s my bin!”
“You found it! I knew the ‘find my bin’ device would work eventually.”
The bin makes three consecutive beep noises at the same volume, stopping for three to five seconds and then playing the same patterned beep again.
One Star Wars fan posted a photo of R2D2 from the famous films and commented: “Distress call to his mate.”
Many people speculate that the noise is coming from a fitted small smoke alarm inside the bin that makes that noise when it needs to be deactivated.
Smoke detectors also beep when their batteries are low to indicate that they need to be replaced.
