ST Margaret's Hospice has announced the return of its much-loved Wear it Yellow campaign for 2024.

The charity hopes to transform Somerset into a sea of yellow from Monday, October 7 to Sunday, October 13 during Hospice Care Week.

It is a celebration of hospice care across the country.

The hospice is calling on schools, workplaces, and supporters from all over Somerset to join in the fun and show their support.

Hospice Care Week this year will focus on the crucial work done by the retail and fundraising teams to keep hospice care available for those in need.

The hospices rely heavily on fundraising activities like the Wear it Yellow campaign and their second-hand shops.

They are raising more money from selling second-hand goods than they receive in government funding.

The hospice hopes that the Wear it Yellow campaign will send a powerful message to Westminster that change is needed.

Kerry Baillie, community partnerships manager at St Margaret's Hospice, said: "We're absolutely buzzing for Wear it Yellow this year.

"We can’t wait to see our community come together to wear yellow, get creative, and turn Somerset yellow in support of hospice care.

"Don’t forget to share your photos on social media using the hashtag #WearItYellow—we want to see Somerset shining bright."

St Margaret's is encouraging people to get involved in any way they can, whether it's decking out their office in yellow, wearing their brightest yellow attire, or hosting a lemon-themed bake-off.

To help people get started, St Margaret's is offering free fundraising packs filled with ideas and resources.

These can be picked up from any of the 31 charity shops across Somerset.

Sponsored by Yellow Peach, St Margaret's is aiming to raise £10,000 through the Wear it Yellow campaign.

Throughout the week, staff and volunteers will be out and about in Somerset, dressed in yellow, to collect donations and raise awareness about the importance of hospice care.
