A new play by Hattie Collins, exploring love, conflict, and the impact of space travel, is coming to Taunton.

The Fallout will be performed at the Taunton Brewhouse on Wednesday, October 26, at 7.45pm.

Presented by Almanac Theatre, the play delves into the consequences of the burgeoning space travel industry on human health and relationships.

Set in a world not-so-distant from our own, The Fallout tells the story of Hazel, a doctor, and Astra, a space shuttle engineer, who find themselves in a whirlwind romance.

Their love faces challenges as the space travel industry’s impact on people's health forces Hazel to confront her deepest values.

The play, praised for its portrayal of modern dilemmas, comes at a time when 2024 is marked by the first-ever privately funded spacewalk.

Oscar Owen, a producer at The Bush Theatre, described it as "one of the most exciting new plays I’ve read recently."

Led by Hattie Collins, Almanac Theatre focuses on female-led work that centres on contemporary issues and South West stories.

Tickets for the Taunton show are available from £11 to £14 per person.
