A TUK-TUK with a giant cheese wedge on its roof visited a Wellington cheese factory.

The tuk-tuk is being driven by Millbrook Dairy's founders, David Evans and Kevin Beer, who are travelling from Bideford, Devon, to the Orkney Islands in Scotland in the vehicle to raise money for BBC Children in Need.

The trip will take the men nine days and will see them travel 1,600 miles, making 29 stops along the way.

The tuk-tuk visited Somerdale International, one of the UK's leading exporters of British cheese and dairy products, which is based in Wellington.

As master cheese graders, David and Kevin met the owners of the producers, along with some of their team, and enjoyed the opportunity to taste and grade their cheese.

Kevin Beer, co-founder and director at Millbrook Dairy Company, said: "It’s our fifth birthday this year, and we wanted to do something different where we can give back to society – hence our crazy tuk-tuk idea is now happening.

"As well as raising money for BBC Children In Need, we are keen to have some fun with this and so we’d love people to get involved and share their photos on our social media if they spot the tuk-tuk.

"As well as raising money for a fantastic cause, we are sampling some amazing cheeses along the way too from the very best of UK producers.

"We are loving every moment, although it has made us appreciate the comfort, we all take for granted in our normal vehicles."

David Evans, co-founder and director at Millbrook Dairy Company, added: "So far, we have raised over £10,000 for Children in Need which is an amazing charity that helps fund thousands of projects in every corner of the UK.

"Our family and friends have already sponsored us, and some of our wonderful suppliers and customers have supported us too, and we are hoping that our fundraising will continue to grow throughout and after our trip."
