THE lifetime collection of automobilia and enamel signs amassed by a leading motoring historian is set to be auctioned off this month.
Nick Baldwin, who lived on the Somerset and Devon border, was a leading motoring historian, journalist, author and avid collector who passed away earlier this year.
His vast collection totals over 200 amazing lots and is estimated to sell for £25,000-30,000 at the specialist Automobilia auction on September 25, sold by Charterhouse in Sherborne.
Auctioneer Richard Bromell said: "This is the largest single-owner collection of automobilia I have had the pleasure to auction in nearly 40 years.
"From car mascots to enamel signs, to vintage car lamps there is something for everyone with it all being sold without reserve."
Viewing for the auction is from Monday, September 23, or can be viewed online at charterhouse-auction.com, where you can also bid live.
The British Motor Museum posted following Nick's death in January: "We are saddened to hear that Nick Baldwin, one of the most well-known motoring historians, has passed away. Over the decades, his enthusiastic contribution to our world of historic vehicles has been huge.
"A large part of the material that Nick collected found a new home in our Archive in 2004 and has provided an invaluable source of information for so many researchers over the years since."
Richard Bromell and the Charterhouse Team can be contacted for advice and valuations on car mascots, enamel signs and automobilia at The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne, 01935 812277 or via rb@charterhouse-auction.com.
