A MANUFACTURING engineer from Somerset has been chosen to appear on the new series of hit reality TV series Married at First Sight.

Nathan Campbell, 24, was selected from thousands of applicants to join the ninth series of the Channel 4 show, which began yesterday (Monday).

A spokesman for Channel 4 said: "Ready for any challenge that’s thrown at him, Nathan is a manufacturing engineer who is no stranger to the attention of women.

"Tired of dating gym bunnies and models, Nathan joined the MAFS UK experiment as he wants to get started on a big family and find a partner who he can connect with on a deeper level.

"He may be young, but he knows exactly what he wants from his future bride.

"His perfect match needs to be petite, funny, family oriented and someone with traditional family values.

"Will the experts be able to engineer true love for Nathan?"

The show sees relationship experts Mel Schilling, Paul C Brunson and Charlene Douglas help hopeful singletons find their perfect match – on their wedding days.

Participants fill out a questionnaire about their preferences, morals and hopes from a relationship and aims for life.

The experts then pair them with a match, who they meet for the first time on their wedding day.

The couples then enter into an experiment, which sees them take part in weekly commitment ceremonies following a 'luxurious' honeymoon, living in a shared house with each other and the other couples.

The broadcaster describes the show as "the bold social experiment where single people, matched by experts, marry total strangers, who they meet for the very first time on their wedding day".
