Residents and staff from Manor Care Home in Bishop's Hull jumped aboard a steam train to Minehead with help from volunteers at West Somerset Steam Railway.
The trip was a summer treat for the residents, with at least 70 per cent of them able to enjoy the nostalgic ride.
It was made possible by the life enrichment team, Sue Hodges and Marc Chidgey.
Residents were accompanied by their relatives and staff from the Manor Care Home.
Lifestyle assistant, Sue Hodges, said: "The volunteers there were second to none, always cheerful and were so accommodating to each and every one of us.
"Memories of this trip will be cherished by every resident, family member and staff.
"As a thank you for their dedication and hard work we awarded the volunteers with a hamper that the residents helped put together.
"We will be forever grateful for the hospitality and kindness."
General manager, Helen Smith, added: "Our residents and staff had a wonderful time on the steam train - truly brilliant.
"We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Manor Care Home as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites."
