A mass litter pick is coming to Watchet as part of the week-long Great British Beach Clean.
The citizen science event, organised by the Marine Conservation Society, began on September 20 and involves hundreds of beach cleans across the UK.
The Watchet litter pick is scheduled for September 28 and will be run in conjunction with Plastic Free Watchet and Plastic Free Communities in West Somerset.
Organiser Andy Levett said: "Plastic pollution along the West Somerset coast is an increasing concern.
"It has a huge impact on marine life and coastal birds and detracts from the beauty of our unique coastline.
"The Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean events provide local communities and visitors to the area an opportunity to get out and enjoy our wonderful beaches while making a positive difference to the environment."
The event is one of nine opportunities for nature-loving volunteers featured in the latest edition of the Feel Great series.
The series, funded by Somerset Council and the Hinkley Point Tourism Action Partnership, features more than 50 ways to enrich your life, focusing on giving back and connecting with the natural world.
The guide encourages people to get involved with local communities, contribute to environmental conservation, boost physical and mental health, learn new skills and make new friends.
Whether you are visiting for a few days or live locally, the guide suggests many different ways to get involved.
Each effort supports the environment and helps to look after the unique Somerset and Exmoor coastline.
