West Mendip Primary Care Network (PCN) is shining a spotlight on men's physical and mental wellbeing this October.
In collaboration with Glastonbury Town Council and the Somerset Prostate Support Association (SPSA), it is hosting a free drop-in event.
The event, called MoMENtum: A Wellness Spotlight for Men, will take place from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, October 6, at Glastonbury Town Hall.
It will bring together various healthcare organisations and community health and wellbeing groups.
Among the organisations in attendance are NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board (ICB), Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, Healthwatch Somerset, ManKind Initiative, and the local Men’s Shed.
West Mendip PCN will also have staff on hand to provide general advice and support, and signpost to other services.
The SPSA is inviting men aged 40 and over to register for a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test on the day.
Peter Hopwood, chair at SPSA, said: "According to Prostate Cancer UK, one in eight men will get prostate cancer.
"Early diagnosis can be crucial to successful treatment."
The PSA tests are confidential, carried out by qualified medical practitioners, and last around 10 to 15 minutes.
They must be booked in advance at www.mypsatests.org.uk.
Dr Kate Rush, clinical director at West Mendip PCN, said: "This drop-in event presents a valuable opportunity to advance the conversation around men’s health, supporting men in embracing a healthier future by connecting with others and exploring health and wellbeing organisations and resources within Somerset."
Conor Ogilvie-Davidson, town clerk at Glastonbury Town Council, added: "This event aligns perfectly with Glastonbury Town Council’s goals to enhance the overall health and wellbeing of our community with the new St Dunstan’s House Community Health and Wellbeing Centre.
"We aim to host more events like this in the future as we continue restoring St Dunstan’s House and adding a new glazed atrium to Glastonbury Town Hall to create a community health and wellbeing facility in the town centre, supported by the £23.6 million Glastonbury Town Deal."
