A TAUNTON charity's CEO has mourned for his brother on the anniversary of his "brutal murder" almost 20 years ago.

Lloyd Fourace was brutally attacked on the eve of his 18th birthday by "drunken yobs" as he left a party at Taunton Vale Sports Club, off Greenway Road on September 25, 2005.

Lloyd's brother, Adam, started The Stand Against Violence charity the same year his brother sadly passed away from his injuries at Musgrove Park Hospital, where he was hit over the head with a wooden sign in 2005.

The Stand Against Violence (SAV) charity aims to raise awareness of how violence can destroy lives and impact communities.

In 2019, Stand Against Violence reached 50,000 young people through violence prevention workshops across the UK in schools, youth groups and football academies.

The Taunton charity has won several awards, including The Queen’s Award in 2014.

Speaking online via Facebook, Adam's heartfelt statement about his brother reads: "My brother was beaten to death in an unprovoked attack in 2005. Today, we remember him, as we do every year.

"Since he was taken from us so cruelly, we have continued to share his story in the hopes that history will not repeat itself.

"We continue to stand against violence and have provided educational workshops to tens of thousands of young people over the years.

"I hope that lessons can be learnt, violence can become something of the past, a darker period in human history, and that one day, families like ours will not have to bury their young loved ones due to mindless acts such as one that took Lloyd's life.

"Rest in peace Lloyd, you will never be forgotten and your legacy lives on."
