TO celebrate this year’s Harvest Festival, Care UK’s Rossetti House, on Welshmill Lane, has partnered with Fair From, a local food bank.

Residents, team members and volunteers alike are encouraging the community to donate any extra, unused or unwanted non-perishable food items to Frome’s newest foodbank drop-off-point – located in the care home’s reception.

Harvest Festival celebrates this time of year, when crops have been successfully gathered from the fields. It is a time where people can reflect and show gratitude for all the food they have, dating all the way back to the 1800s when people relied solely on local crops for nourishment that famers would give away thanks to a bountiful harvest that year.

The foodbank drop-off point, which will see donations made to Fair Frome, will be live at Rossetti House until Thursday, October 10. The home will also be hosting a Harvest Festival service for residents and the community at the home on Thursday, October 3, from 3.45pm-4.45pm.

Phil Vale, general manager at Rossetti House, said: “At Rossetti House, we are always looking for ways to give back and support our community and local charities, which is why we’re delighted to be partnering with Fair Frome and launching our first ever foodbank drop-off point.

“In these challenging times, we know many people may be struggling, and with Christmas fast approaching, it’s more important than ever to support foodbanks which provide a vital lifeline for many members of our local community.

“We’d encourage those who have unwanted or unused items to come and visit Rossetti House and support us to help those in need.”
