WINNERS of the National Bakery Awards have been announced, with two bakeries in Devon and Somerset in the running to win.

Nominees were announced in July, they included Ryders Homemade Bakery in Dawlish for Devon, and Rye Bakery in Frome in line to be awarded 'Best Bakery in the South West'.

Awards have been given to bakeries from across the UK, the overall winner was Pump Street Bakery in Suffolk.

Open to all UK bakeries (both retail and wholesale), the National Bakery Awards celebrate the early mornings, long days, and hard work that goes into running a bakery.

The National Bakery awards say: "The last few years have been particularly challenging, and we know you deserve more recognition. We asked you to share what makes your bakery great, and you responded in bakers dozens."

From all the entries, judges have selected the County Winners, who were invited to the National Bakery Awards grand final to receive their certificates in London on Wednesday, September 25.

The best bakery in the South West was awarded to Ryders Homemade Bakery in Dawlish, which was announced at the award ceremony on Wednesday.

The National Bakery Awards will return in 2025.
