WELLINGTON Library is set to welcome the public back to its historic Fore Street location after its refurbishment on Monday (September 30) at 9.30am.

The library, which has been a cornerstone of the community since 1969, underwent significant upgrades while temporarily housed on North Street.

What’s new?

  • Enhanced accessibility: improved access for both staff and visitors across all floors.
  • Community connection: new spaces designed to foster community engagement, partnerships, and provide comprehensive advice and guidance.
  • The children’s library has a great new space, and the team is excited to offer more flexible events and activities for the whole community.
  • Eco-friendly upgrades: increased thermal efficiency in line with Somerset Council’s Climate Emergency Strategy.

Everyone is welcome to join the official opening by Mayor of Wellington Cllr Janet Lloyd at 11am on Wednesday, 2 October, or people can drop in during opening hours to check out the new facilities.

Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts, Executive Lead Member for Communities, Housing, and Culture, said: “We’re thrilled to have Wellington Library back in Fore Street. The upgraded premises will serve as a vibrant hub for both the local community and visitors.”
