A barn has been left fire-damaged, and a farmer's supply of hay bales has been destroyed, after a barn fire in Lympsham on Friday (September 27).
Fire crews were called at 8.00 am after reports of a fire in a barn storing hay in Lympsham. Two fire engines and a water bowser, were sent. When they arrived, crews say they 'confirmed this barn was approximately 30m x 50m, with around 50 bales of hay well alight.'
Two more fire engines were sent, including a telehandler from Exeter. Crews extinguished the fire using: seven breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and main jets
The fire was put out at around 2pm. Crews say that there was 10 per cent fire damage to the barn and 100 per cent fire damage to the hay bales and contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Fire crews from around Devon and Somerset attended including a telehandler from their HQ in Clyst St George, Taunton, Bridgwater, Cheddar and Martock.
