Wellington Town Council is to install a ramp on the bridge and remove the kissing gate by Rockwell School in the Green Corridor.

The work is being completed next week by the town council and Somerset Council, making the Green Corridor more accessible for people with disabilities.

This work is being undertaken by MJ Fletcher and has been paid for by Somerset Council, as they own the Public Right of Way.

Wellington Town Council says that people can enjoy a traffic-free path to the town centre between Rockwell Green and the Town Centre. These changes will also make the route easier to use for pushchairs.

In a post on Facebook on Tuesday (October 1), a spokesman said: "We are pleased to share that the main route through the Green Corridor is due to be made completely accessible next week with the installation of a ramp on the bridge and the removal of the kissing gate by Rockwell Green School.

"By adding a ramp and removing the kissing gate, wheelchair users will be able to access this route and allow them to travel between Rockwell Green and the Town Centre on a more pleasant, traffic-free path. These changes will also make the route easier to use for pushchairs.

"We look forward to seeing the work completed and seeing more people able to utilise this area."
