AN incident involving two women drivers who collided in a car crash near Taunton has left one of them in hospital.

Occurring on the A358 at around 3pm on October 2, 2024, the incident occurred between Bickenhall Lane and the West Hatch turning.

The A358 reopened over an hour and a half after the police arrived at the scene around 5:30pm.

A bus detour was put in place following the A358 crash, with bus 30 temporarily diverting via Blackbrook Bus Gate and Ilminster.

Traffic was severely delayed during the accident affecting many people who use that stretch of the A358 on their commute home from work.

The average speed of traffic around the area where the incident happened was 10MPH.

Speaking about the incident today, a representative from the Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at 3:51pm today (2 October) to reports of a two-car collision on the A358 near Hatch Beauchamp.

"Officers attended and closed the road. It reopened shortly before 5:30pm.

"The ambulance and fire services also attended, and two women were treated at the scene.

"One of these women has been taken to hospital."
