Snowgoose will celebrate the release of their new album with a show in Shepton Mallet.

The folk-rock band, whose singer and song-writer, Anna Sheard, is from Somerset and lives in West Pennard, will perform at The Art Bank on Sunday, October 19.

Descendant, Snowgoose's long-awaited third album, releases on the same day.

The band, known for their emotive song-writing and musical depth, have been a notable presence in the Glasgow music scene since their 2012 debut, Harmony Springs.

Their new single, Better Listen, released on September 13, offers a glimpse into Snowgoose’s expanded sound palette, combining emotional depth with melodic ingenuity.

Ms Sheard said: "Better Listen feels optimistic.

"It speaks of the importance of hope and the need to stay true to yourself when facing challenges in a relationship.

"Exploring the trials of waiting for answers, hoping to be heard, clinging onto positives, determined not to let go."

The single features the talents of Raymond McGinley (Teenage Fanclub) on guitar, Chris Geddes (Belle and Sebastian) on keyboards, guitarist Jim McCulloch and Stuart Kidd (BMX Bandits) on drums.

The album offers a profound narrative of human emotion.

It explores themes of love, loss, beauty, and sorrow.

Ms Sheard said: "Descendant explores the delicate interplay between the joys of love and the inevitability of loss.

"Each song navigates the complex emotions that connect these experiences, serving as a reflection on the beauty and pain of impermanence."

To celebrate the release of Descendant, Snowgoose will embark on a UK tour, featuring both full band and intimate acoustic performances alongside Eugene Kelly.

Tickets to the Shepton Mallet show, which are priced at £14.40 per person, are currently sold-out.

Doors open at 7pm and the performance is expected to start at 7.30pm.
