AN emergency road closure has been put in place after a street in Somerset was hit with a burst water main.
Coombe Street Lane in Yeovil closed earlier this morning after the incident which occurred around 10am.
Wessex Water is dealing with the issue, but despite this, a road closure sign has been put up until midnight on October 5.
The Yeovil Street is an easy cut-through for drivers travelling between the A37 and the A359.
Combe Street Lane in Yeovil is not usually busy, but it is narrow and winding in some areas.
Drivers should be careful to be visible to other road users, especially when approaching bends.
In addition to today's emergency road closure on Coombe Street Lane, some other temporary traffic restrictions have been put in place.
This includes the north side of the footpath being closed from the A359 Mudford Road junction to the A37 Coppitts Roundabout.
Combe Street Lane is also one-way in a westerly direction from the A359 Mudford Road junction to the A37 Coppitts Roundabout.
A spokesperson for Wessex Water said: "We’re carrying out emergency repairs to a burst main, with a road closure in place so we can do this quickly and safely.
"We’re sorry for any traffic delays caused."
