TWO men have been arrested “on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence”.

A man in his late teens and another man in his 20s were arrested yesterday (Thursday, October 3) after reports that “the occupant of a car had fired shots at another vehicle” on the A39 Dunster Straight, near Minehead.

Avon and Somerset Police said no one was injured and also added: “Two men are in police custody today, Friday, October 4, following an incident on the A39 Dunster Straight near Minehead.

“Officers were called just after 6pm on Thursday 3 October to reports that the occupant of a car had fired shots at another vehicle.

“No one was injured in the incident.

“Two adults - one late teens, the other in his 20s - were arrested from an address in Summerlands Road, Minehead, just before 8pm on Thursday on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.

“Officers, including specialist firearms units, seized an air pistol and pellets as well as a car.

“Anyone with information or dashcam footage which could help our investigation is asked to call 101 and give the reference 5224261215.
