A SERIOUS collision forced the M5 to temporarily close a stretch of the road near Taunton.
First reported at around 2:30pm, the M5 heading southbound by Junction 25 was closed off by police following a serious collision.
The incident was described as a "high-impact collision" - which forced a closure of two lanes of the M5.
At one point there were reports of over 10 miles worth of traffic at a standstill due to the incident.
Traffic was reported as "very slow" from near West Newton to Poundisford on the M5.
Traffic moving northbound on the M5 was also slow due to onlookers.
The number of vehicles involved, as well as reports of any casualties at the accident, is unknown at this time.
The police have been approached for a comment regarding today's (October 6) incident on the M5.
