A recycling facility in Somerset attracted a record number of visitors for its annual open day.
SUEZ's Evercreech Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) opened its doors to the public, welcoming around 95 visitors keen to explore the site's inner workings.
The event, held as part of the annual Heritage Open Day, aimed to engage and educate the public on recycling and sustainability.
SUEZ is Somerset Council's collections contractor, with the MRF being one of two depots where materials from across the county are sorted.
Visitors were able to take guided tours of the facility, which included talks from community liaison manager Lily Morton, and demonstrations of the sorting machinery.
Fred Stinchcombe, regional manager, said: "We are thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm shown by our community during the Heritage Open Day.
"It’s heartening to see so many people eager to learn and help make a difference to our environment."
One visitor said: "The tour of the site and the guide were incredibly informative.
"It was interesting to see up close how the recycling process works, the sheer volumes involved, and to be able to ask questions.
"We are already committed to recycling and reducing waste, but this tour brought into sharp focus how important it is."
