AN Evercreech man who stopped his car in the middle of a roundabout was found to be a staggering 24 times over the drug drive limit.

Jacob Alexander Fraser was driving home when police were alerted to the vehicle and signalled for him to stop.

He decided to pull up halfway round a roundabout, leaving his car parked at a 45-degree angle, and when he got out to speak to the officers he was very confused and confessed had had been taking Ketamine.

Fraser, 30, of Maesdown Road, admitted driving a vehicle when the proportion of drugs in his system was over the limit when he appeared before District Judge Angela Brereton, sitting at Yeovil.

Prosecutor Ben Winzer said that police indicated to the defendant to pull over when they saw him driving just after midnight.

“He stopped on a multi-lane roundabout and left his vehicle parked at a 45-degree angle, and when the officers asked if he was ok he appeared confused,” he said.

“He admitted he had consumed Ketamine and was arrested and once in custody a test showed a reading of 488mcg of the drug in his system compared to the limit of 20mcg.”

Appearing unrepresented, Fraser said that he had spoken with the Probation Service and was now hoping that his drug use would be addressed.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 80 hours unpaid work and 10 Rehabilitation Activity days and was banned from driving for 15 months with a £114 victim surcharge and £40 costs.
