A PUB near Taunton has recently reopened with new owners setting out a new menu and plans for future events.
Once known as a popular village pub, The Half Moon Inn, in Stoke St Mary near Taunton, has always been a great option for food and alcoholic drinks.
The pub offers “cheap drinks”, and punters can buy a pint of lager for £3.50.
In 2018, the Half Moon Inn was put up for auction after the owners considered it “not having a long-term future”.
Situated on 1.13 acres of land, the pub had a freehold guide price of between £275,000 and £295,000 six years ago.
Owners Kyle and Gemma took over from the previous owners when the pub was forced to close at the end of July this year.
After a bit of “a much needed fresh lick and clean”, the pub was officially back up on its feet and ready for reopening – which it did last month, on September 6.
The new owners are joined by “a fantastic team” including Martin as the bar manager and Steve Lee who is the new head chef.
Steve “has big plans” for the Half Moon Inn and brings a wealth of culinary knowledge to the pub, as he has over 30 years of chef experience.
The new owners want to make use of the acquired land by the pub, with plans for a community fete.
Kyle also owns the King Arthur pub in Glastonbury.
Speaking about the pub reopening, Gemma said: “It’s taken a while but after reopening last month we are fully up and running after a much needed fresh lick of paint and a clean to help restore it (The Half Moon Inn).
“We have lots of events planned, including live music events and a regular quiz night once a week every week, which has just started last Sunday (Sunday, October 6).
“We value our community and want to give back. We try and do this by offering great deals at the pub during these difficult times.
“We do three courses for £20, and we do cheap pints, doubles (spirits), only cost £5, and you can view our new full menu and specials on our board.
“Sunday roasts are also back up and running.
“It’s new, clean and one of the cheapest pubs in Somerset.
“We’re where we’ve always been so come on in, we would love to see you.”
