Two siblings have been reunited at a care home in Frome.

Ruby and Max, who are originally from Woolley Hole and Wells, have been placed in rooms right next to each other at Catherine House Care Home.

They have always been close, attending the same schools and living just a few miles apart throughout their lives.

The brother and sister were born just two years apart, with Ruby being born on January 17, 1936, and Max on May 14, 1938.

They grew up in the area and attended Nunney Primary School.

Their father, Hector, worked as a farm hand, while their mother, Doris, ran the staff canteen at a nearby works.

The years have flown by (Image: Catherine House Care Home) Ruby helped out at a local shop in Nunney and went on to work there full-time.

She married Tony Brown and became a farmer's wife, raising two daughters, Linda and Jackie.

Max was called up for National Service and worked as a batman for an officer.

After his service, he worked in a shop in Frome but always dreamt of becoming a postman, which he succeeded in doing for over 25 years in Frome and the nearby villages.

He found his match at the age of 40, and Ruby jokingly told his wife Carol: "Thank goodness you found him, I thought I’d be looking after him forever."

In their later years, Ruby and Max find themselves reunited at Catherine House Care Home, in rooms right next to each other.

Just as they did in childhood, they’re side by side once more, sharing smiles and companionship.

All the staff know Max as Ruby’s little brother, as she never misses a chance to remind them he’s exactly two years and four months younger.

They have been inseparable ever since birth (Image: Catherine House Care Home) Sherin Anup, home manager at Catherine House Care Home, said: "The bond between Ruby and Max is a testament to the strength of family ties.

"Even with the distance that life sometimes places between us, love and connection remain constant.

"It’s heartwarming to see them reunited at Catherine House Care Home, supporting each other in this new chapter of their lives."

"It’s still early days, just over a week in, and both are adjusting to the big change.

"We are delighted to have them as part of our Catherine House family, and we look forward to supporting them in their journey ahead."
