A MAN has been rescued from his vehicle in flood water near Taunton as Somerset was hit by heavy rain.
Fire crews rescued a man in Trull yesterday afternoon (October 8).
The man, fire service confirmed, was then “taken to dry land safe and well”.
A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews rescued one male from his vehicle in flood water this afternoon, using flood suits.
“One male was taken to dry land safe and well.”
Yesterday, the M5 was closed near Taunton due to flooding.
J25 and J26 were closed, and work was carried out to repair the central reservation.
The A358 was also closed after flooding in Donyatt.
This morning, Travel Somerset said: “No major problems to report on key routes this morning. We'll keep you updated.
“Please be aware there may be significant surface water around on local roads across the county.”
