A MAN who was drunk when he returned to his ex-partner’s address and caused damage to her property in Langport is to be sentenced next month.
The victim returned to her home when she saw Tristan Hopkins’ car parked outside so she went to a friend’s house as she was too scared to go inside.
A neighbour reported hearing banging noises coming from the property and when she later returned she found the defendant had helped himself to her booze and damaged a skylight.
Hopkins, 48, of Martock Road, Long Sutton appeared in the dock before Somerset Magistrates at Yeovil and pleaded guilty to stealing gin and mead wine worth £45 belonging to Louisa Pledger on February 25. He also admitted destroying a plant pot and skylight belonging to his ex.
Andrew Meadows, prosecuting, said the defendant had previously been in a relationship with Miss Pledger which had ended a week before the incident.
“On the night in question the complainant went out with a friend and returned home when she saw his car outside so went back to her friend’s house,” he said.
“A neighbour said they could hear banging going on inside the property, and Hopkins was inside and drunk after consuming a bottle of gin and there was some damage to a skylight.
The magistrates ordered the case to be adjourned until November 26 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service. Until then he was bailed with conditions not to contact the complainant by any means and not to go to a specified address in Langport.
