A FROME woman who lashed out at the police while being arrested for an unrelated matter has been ordered to attend court on November 2 to the sentenced.

Elizabeth Parsons caught the hand of one of the victims between the door of a van, fracturing one of his fingers and damaging his glasses, and then headbutted the other male.

The 42-year-old defendant, of Locks Hill, Frome, appeared in the dock before Somerset Magistrates at Yeovil.

She pleaded guilty to assaulting Stewart Baird causing him actual bodily harm and admitted damaging his glasses during the incident at Shepton Mallet on November 25 last year.

She also admitted assaulting an emergency worker, namely a member of police staff, by beating him.

Prosecutor Andrew Meadows said the assaults occurred while Parsons was being arrested on an unrelated matter.

“The assault causing actual bodily harm occurred when she recklessly kicked out, catching the victim’s right hand between the door of a van leaving a cut and fracture to one of his finger joints,” he said.

He said she also headbutted the other male causing no injury, but she accepted being under the influence of alcohol and believed she fell forward and carried out the headbutt.

The magistrates adjourned the case for sentencing until November 26 to enable a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service. Until then she was released on unconditional bail.
