THE OWNER of a Frome kebab shop faces a £5,000 bill after pleading guilty to improperly disposing of the takeaway's waste.
Eyub Saliev, 44, trading as UK Kebab at 7 Bath Street, pleaded guilty to throwing the shop's rubbish into public waste litter bins and in locations around Frome in clear plastic waste bags.
Controlled waste illegally deposited by the shop included; polystyrene kebab boxes, food waste, and oil bottles used for cooking.
The offences took place between April 1 2022, and April 30 2023. After entering a guilty plea, Saliev was handed a bill totalling £5,151 at Taunton Magistrates' Court on October 8.
Saliev must pay £865 for making the illegal deposits of rubbish, plus £2053 in compensation, a surcharge to fund victim services of £346, and costs of £1,887.
The takeaway's improper rubbish disposal was contrary to section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
