A DEAD tree will be removed from a Taunton park for public safety.
Taunton Town Council said the mature tree in French Weir Park was confirmed dead after an inspection.
A spokesperson for the council said that while the tree will be removed for public safety, its trunk will remain in place and will act as a wildlife habitat.
The spokesperson also said: “Following a tree inspection, one of our mature trees at French Weir Park has been confirmed to be dead and needs to be removed for public safety.
“A large section of the trunk will remain in place and will act as a wildlife habitat in the short term.”
