Four schools in Taunton have had successful Ofsted reports in 2024, according to the governing body's website.

The list is from January 1 2024, to Monday October 21, no schools in Taunton have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted this year, but four have been rated 'Good.'

Each year, every school in the UK has a visit from a government inspector to make sure the school is operating correctly. They write a full report and give an overall score of the school from four categories, Outstanding, Good, requires improvement and inadequate.

  1. Silver Bridge School, an Independent School at 54 Silver Street, Taunton, was rated 'Good' on June 26.

They were rated as good in the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development,  outstanding in leadership and management and good in their sixth-form provision. 
 

2. Cheddon Fitzpaine Church School, a Primary school at Rowford, Cheddon Fitzpaine, Taunton, rated Good on May 8.

Ofsted inspectors say it 'continues to be a good school, with eager pupils who learn enthusiastically and are 'polite and welcoming.'

3. Thurlbear Church of England Primary School in Thurlbear, Taunton, rated Good on June 11.

Inspectors said that pupils 'thoroughly enjoy' attending Thurlbear. "Classrooms buzz with interest and engagement. They show high levels of respect and politeness for others. Most pupils are impeccably well behaved and the school is highly ambitious for all pupils to achieve well."

4. Somerset Progressive School an Independent School at Bath House Farm, West Hatch, rated Good on September 11. 

Rated over two days in September, inspectors rated the school Good in the overall effectiveness, the quality of education, personal development and leadership and management. And Oustanding in Behaviour and attitudes.
