POLICE record over 109 speed offences on the A371, including a driver detected at 60mph in a 30mph zone.

Officers said they detected a driver passing over a 30mph painted road roundel at 60mph in Castle Cary.

In a check that lasted an hour, police said they recorded over 109 speed offences.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “Driver detected at 60mph in a 30 limit on the A371, Castle Cary and seen passing over a 30mph painted road roundel at the time.

“Our attendance was as a result of complaints from local residents.

"An hour-long check at this location resulted in 109 excess speed offences.”
