A TREE infected by a fungus has been removed from the area in front of the crown court building in Taunton.
Somerset Council confirmed the Giant Sequoia in front of the Shire Hall was removed on Thursday, October 17/Friday, October 18 due to Honey Fungus.
A Somerset Council spokesperson said: “Contractors removed the dead Giant Sequoia tree located in a busy area in front of the Crown Court, Shire Hall, on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 October.
“The council had been monitoring the Giant Sequoia since it began declining rapidly due to suspected Honey Fungus, which was subsequently confirmed.”
